JAN.17/09 - Well well well friends, it's been a mighty long time since anything worth writing on this page has
happened, but we're doubly pleased to be BACK! A lot has changed in the past year, including the departure
of our original bass player, Keith Lysyshyn, who most ably put our root down for three good years... we'll miss
you Keith, and best of luck with everything buddy! We also have many new songs to play, with all the epic guitar
rippery you've been missing! Still trying to dig up some more relentless marimba, but we'll keep you posted! In
the meantime, come one, AND come all to celebrate Old Joe's birthday on March 6th at Lydia's in Saskatoon,
                      see you there!

DEC.16/06 - There's been a change to the line-up for the show on Friday - sadly, Pangaea
will not be opening up the night. Instead, Johnny Grit will start things off. But Pangaea will rise again!

DEC.11/06 - We can clothe you now. For real this time!! Check it out at the merchandise page.
Don't be shy, we will ship to all U.N. member countries... plus the Vatican City... and Taiwan...

DEC 09/06 - So things are starting(??) to pick up for the members of this band...Tonight Devin is playing
with the New Jacobin Club at Amigo's and we have a show there on the 22nd. We had our first jam in quite a
while on Thursday and it was a great time...expect a couple of new songs at the next show. We are getting
dangerously close to having enough songs for the next album so Joey is starting to feel a little squishy inside
from all the anticipation that is building up. He's also playing again with the Heartstrings on January 18th
at Lydia's. It's a fundraiser for our favourite local charity, CFCR radio of course. News that should be exciting to all
who have known Joey and Scotty from their days on the backline of Pangaea is here - dun-dun-DA
Pangaea is back and will be opening the show on the 22nd. yeehaw! Maybe yeehaw is the wrong word to
express excitement about the return of Saskatoon's most folkadelic band. Come to the show and we'll keep a
close ear to whatever you may be shouting...

NOV 28/06 - Hey there folks, it's been a while since our last update so here's what's up- we've had a
bit of time to rest and it looks our repertoire of unrecorded songs is growing quite large. Hopefully, that
means we can start working on our next album soon. I can't imagine it being a disappointment to anyone who has
our first - it will be just as chock full of instruments as the last. No wait - more so! Joey is already hard
at work arranging string quartets and wind sections, and who knows what else is to come? In the meantime
meantime, he's also playing bass with a dandy little group called the Heartstrings, with folks from the Cracker
Cats and the Deep Dark Woods. Dev as usual is rocken heavy with the New Jacobin Club and has
some out of town shows coming up after Christmas. I'll put them up on the shows page when I figure
out when and where. More to come soon. We are working on booking some shows in the near future so we'll see
                      you then.

OCT 10/06 - Thanks to everyone who came out to our super awesome show a couple weeks ago with the Cracker
Cats. We played some great songs with the girls and for all you folks who missed it, if it ever happens again,
you better come out. It doesn't look like much is going on for the next little while, but Joey is jamming with
a couple new groups of ladies and gents so at least he won't be bored. This page will, of course, have all the
important details... we also have a new myspace page. It's called myspace.com/oldjoeandthetruthhurts or
something. I'm sure you'll be able to find it if you look hard enough. Maybe we'll set up a link to it on our
links page. Does that really make sense?

SEP 06/06 - Hey folks, it's been a while so here's some good news - Friday the 22nd we will playing with the
Cracker Cats at Louis' on campus. This show has been a real long time coming and it promises to be one of
the most happening shows of the year! So put aside some of that student loan money and come party with us...

AUG 04/06 - SHOW ANNOUNCED!! To bring ourselves home, we will be opening up for friends Johnny Grit                           tomorrow at Amigo's, so come on down and welcome us home why donchya?

AUG 03/06 - SHOW CANCELLED!! Sadly, tonight's gig in Sirdar has been cancelled due to lack of staff at the venue.                  We went so far as to hire our own cook and waitress, but alas, it was not to be... next time eh? We will try to play a                 few tunes at the open stage at the Royal in Fernie tonight, who knows?

JUL 27/06 - Well, well, here we go! Tomorrow morning we hit the road for the first time. Calgary, Vancouver, Sirdar,                  and Lethbridge, we can't wait to meet you!

JUL 13/06 - Just to keep things going, Joey will be playing a solo set this Friday in the side tent at the Shakespeare
on the Saskatchewan. This is actually his first ever solo show so come check it out. Mostly he'll be playing
Truth Hurts songs but probably a couple of other tunes, a few covers, and even a couple new ones. 10:15 pm, right
               after the play.

JUL 9/06 - Holy crap! The Truth Hurts are finally going on tour! This first jaunt will take us west, so check the shows                page to see where we will be playing, and hopefully we'll see you out there...

MAR 15/06 - EXTRA EXTRA! MORE EXTRA! Old Joe and the Truth Hurts at the Brass Monkey on Friday
March 24th with the undisputably cromulant Green Bottle Street. Just giver down there eh.

FEB 05/06 - I wanted to say something cheesy like how if you are cold this winter you should come warm up
with Old Joe and the Truth Hurts on Saturday the 11th at Amigos. But it has not been very cold lately so it would
not make any sense. What does make sense, however, is that we have asked our good friend Eliza the banjo superstar
to open up for us. My keyboard can not make apostrophes so that is why there have not been any contractions or
properly used possessives in this posting.

NOV 26/05 - Later breaking news folks! Tonight we will be joined by a special guest for our show at Lydia's - Brett
Balon, who has played with many of the local jazz groups on the scene these days, and who played the "relentless"
marimba on "Heaven Bound" and some other parts on our CD, will be playing piano, marimba, guitar, horns, and
doing some singing as well. This should make for a different kind of Truth Hurts show, so if you were thinking,
"Ahh, seen those guys before.." then think again and come check it out. See you tonight.

NOV.14/05 - It was a long off-season, but the Truth Hurts are back big time! Come check us out on Saturday the 26th
at Lydia's with humdinger opening act Polysorbate 80. If you can't make that show then don't miss us when we open
up for Elliott Brood at Amigo's on December 3rd. Those cats are wicked and coincidentally have a near-identical
webpage to ours. Check it out here. BAM! For all you family types out there, you can bring the kiddies out to Cafe
Vivant for an all-acoustic soiree on December 9th at 7:30pm. If you haven't seen us for a while, which you haven't as
we have not been playing, then you'll be treated to some new songs at these upcoming shows. As well, stay tuned
for the development of Joeland on the bios page. BAM!

OCT.24/05 - Old Joe and the Truth Hurts are happy to be apart of two great new local compilation cd's, "Stories From
The Bridge City, A Compilation of Independant Saskatoon Artists", and "100 Years and Still Rockin', CFCR-FM
Community Radio Centennial Music Compilation". Thanks Passenger Side Entertainment and CFCR. Get your
                copies today y'all!

JUN.27/05 - Thanks to everyone who came out to the show on the 10th. Make sure to check out the Uncas when they.
hit your neck of the woods. They were fine individuals. Joey's about to go on tour with the Cracker Cats for the next.
couple of months. Check out the Cracker Cats website for tour info. Dev's been rehearsing with local goth-punk.
phenoms the New Jacobin Club once more. They played a rather intimate show at Walkers on June 4th and had a merry.
time. Scotty's back in Spain for a few more months and Keith is still almost cool.

JUN.6/05 - It's Devin once more. I just spent my second weekend recording the Ultimate Power Duo's first full-length .
release. Everything's going well. The guitars sound huge. Very large. Keep your eyes open for it. Meanwhile, I got my .
               clarinet re-corked. Rock and/or roll.

APR.08/05 - Joey, I (Devin), and a few other friends saw Strapping Young Lad last night and got our asses rocked off.
My other band, The Tig Ol' Bitties finished our first demo last week. We were in a bit of a rush to finish it so I'll have
to revisit some of the mixing when time allows.

MAR.23/05 - Apologies to everyone for less-than-stellar updates on the news page. It's been too long. We'll try our
darndest to keep you all in the know a little more. I'll start by saying thanks to everyone for the support at the release
show. It was a huge success. We've all been quite busy since then. Joey and I (Dev) recorded a demo of This is the
Life for the Ness Creek centennial compilation CD, Keith and his supergroup of musical refugees are getting set to
release another installment of the chronicles of Feldman & Richter and Stein, and Scott is herding llamas in Spain.
There may be a new project involving Keith, Joey and me in the near future. We've rehearsed (very sparsely) for a
country project. It's very early in that band's development, but it sounds like it's got potential. Lastly, happy birthdays
to Joey, Keith, Bryce (the didgeridoo player at the release show), and my dad.

DEC.08/04 - Joe and I (Devin) picked up the CDs this morning. Oh joy, oh joy!
They look absolutely incredible and sound just as good. :)

NOV.29/04 - CD Release show finally announced!!! Check shows link for details.

NOV.15/04 - Final master of cd "The Book of Old Joe" has been sent to Toronto to be pressed.

NOV.14/04 - Final master of cd "The Book of Old Joe" is finally complete, ending a five-and-a-half-month endeavour.

NOV.05/04 - The final mix has been delivered to Joel Grundahl for mastering.

OCT.31/04 - The last track has finally been recorded. Now we can finish the mix and then on to mastering. Huzzah!

SEP.25/04 - Devin here. I've been back in Saskatoon since the start of the school term and will resume mixing with Kevin
                Macza. We start today.

AUG.30/04 - With only a few tracks left to record, the mixing process starts today with Dev and Dax.
Mixing will be done in good ol' Prince Albert. Thanks to Dev's mom for giving him the ironing room to serve as the
                makeshift studio.
